Microbead-Free Waters Act Spills Over to Essure Birth Control Device

In January 2016, Congress enacted the “Microbead-Free Waters Act of 2015” that is intended to stop the manufacturing of rinse-off cosmetics that contain intentionally-added plastic microbeads, and may prompt a closer inspection of similar products including polyethylene terephthalate fibers, or PET fibers, which are used in Bayer’s Essure birth control device. According to Dr. Margaret Aranda, the presence of PET fibers in the Essure device is troubling, as that they degrade when exposed to heat and over long periods of time, contributing the device’s already-shaky efficacy.

If you or a loved one experienced complications after being implanted with the Essure birth control device, please call us at (888) 985-7228 to speak with an experienced attorney about your potential claim.
